Edith Kroese

At Avance:
Senior impact adviser, responsible for the development of new Avance products related to impact and result measurement. The focus of her consultancies is on (re)shaping organisational culture and structure to achieve maximum impact. She is convinced that, to make a real difference, organisations must first start thinking in terms of impact, and that measuring impact—in other words, making it visible—plays an essential role in this process.

Background:
She started her career as organisation adviser for Engineering Firm DHV, and worked for them in a large number of countries throughout Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. In 2002 she founded Avance. She has worked as impact consultant for development organisations, government agencies and companies for over 15 years. In 2014 she obtained a Master’s Degree in Change Management from the SIOO.

Outside Avance:
She is happy with her new life in Amsterdam-Noord, where the yoga classes are good, and the birds chirp away.

Jacoline Plomp

At Avance:
Senior impact-consultant for companies and NGOS, and manager of the improvement programme Proclimate.

Background:
Is a sociologist and has worked for multinationals as well as NGOs. She is convinced that these two worlds can learn from each other, and that working together leads to a more sustainable world. For more than 15 years she travelled the world for different assignments. She lived in Kenya between 2009 and 2012, and was involved in the implementation of coffee and tea programmes. Also, she developed a horticulture programme with companies, and was cofounder of the regional office Solidaridad Eastern and Central Africa Expertise Center (SECAEC).

Outside Avance:
Is fond of sailing, long evenings with friends and a good glass of wine.

Jacoline Plomp

Dani Bender

Impact Consultant

At Avance:
Impact consultant for evaluations for NGOs and different impact assessments for social enterprises. Is capable of efficiently finding good data on very complex topics.

Background:
Has a BSc in Cultural Anthropology and an MSc in International Development Studies. After graduation he focused on Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PME), specifically on qualitative and quantitative research.

Outside Avance:
Is an enthusiastic home cook and juggler, and is lightly addicted to the news.

Anouk Rutten

Senior impact-consultant specialized in consultancy and training projects for NGO’s and impact-minded companies.

Background:
Studied Human Geography and subsequently a post-doc development studies. In 2015 she also graduated from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam for Corporate social Responsibility. Published an article about her research on finding the balance between financial sustainability and social impact on The Broker Online and in Dutch international development magazine One World. Has extensive experience in programme development, project management, evaluations, partnerships, and fundraising. Worked in several countries, among them 6 years in Nairobi, as institutional fund manager for 7 countries in East-Central Africa.

Outside Avance:
Anouk loves running, concerts, and being inspired by people. Loves animals in general and has two dogs herself, but they still live in Kenia.

Lizzy Eilbracht

At Avance:
Lizzy is impact consultant for companies and NGOs. She specialises in qualitative and quantitative research methods to make social impact concrete.

Background:
Lizzy studied pedagogy and sociology in the US, Turkey and the Netherlands. As adviser at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs she was involved in private sector development within development cooperation; and export coaching and capacity building for small and medium enterprises in developing countries. In the past few years, Lizzy has become specialized in the method of social return on investment. As impact advisor, she has guided research and communication on the impact of social entrepreneurs.

Outside Avance:
Lizzy is very busy with new trips to her favourite Balkan countries, making clothes, and wandering around antique markets in the Netherlands and abroad.

Dave Verkaik

Impact consultant for NGO’s and companies, skilled with data and specialed in working with surveys, analysing and finding correlations and causations.

Background
Got his MSc in Communication sciences before conducting research into the effect of campaigning on charitable donations at the Centre for Philantropic studies at the Free University in Amsterdam, working for the Dutch government, NGOs and others. Specialised in the effect of impact information on donors and wrote several publications. Got inspired by the importance of impact measurements and is since then dedicated to maximising impact through primarily quantitative research.

Outside Avance
Claims to have one of the largest collections of nature-documentaries of the country and dreams of making one himself someday. Plays soccer in Utrecht and loves the cinema.

Adviser for local organisations in development countries under the high-impact ProClimate programme.

Background:
Has a BSc in tropical forestry and an MSc Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing. Among others, he always looks at the connection between theoretical concepts and practice in development countries, particularly in projects related to sustainable land use and forestry. He has worked in Ecuador, Peru, Nicaragua, and the gorgeous Bounty islands of Vanuatu (how was he ever able to leave?) and specialises in carbon certification for small-scale farmers.

Loves to climb and run, and enjoys catching a film.

Amis Boersma

Process manager and trainer at impact-projects and evaluations. Likes to make procedures that seem complicated at first simple and comprehensible. Is interested in projects where connectivity and innovation are key. Wants to contribute to making impact measurement be regarded less as a chore and more as an integral and meaningful part of everyday work.

Background:
Studied Indonesian and worked in development cooperation for over ten years, at organizations such as an Indonesian human rights organization, Freevoice and Hivos. Developed herself as a personal leader and in group dynamics, because she believes that a better world starts with yourself. Has worked in various contexts and is an experienced builder of bridges. Apart from Dutch she also speaks English, Spanish, French, German and Indonesian.

Outside Avance:
Is the founder of Meer Lieve Brieven (More Kind Letters), a collective that writes and spreads kind letter anonymously. Enjoys singing and loves Manneken Pis liquorice.

Guides organisations and networks in the development and monitoring of effective advocacy strategies through workshops, trainings and coaching. He carries out qualitative programme and advocacy evaluations, using a wide range set of participatory methods.

Background:
As political scientist specialized in peacebuilding and reconciliation in conflict settings, specifically children’s rights and youth participation. Has 15 years of experience in international cooperation and has been working as an independent consultant since 2012.

Background:

Background
Combines a science background (MSc Crop Science) with a social background (MA International Development). Over 15 years experience in designing integrated and practical systems for getting insight in results, mostly in African countries. Experience with complex evaluations and with capacity development and training in various contexts.

Associate consultant specialized in women’s empowerment and gender mainstreaming.

Background
Works as an independent consultant since 2012, focusing on gender analysis, evaluation and capacity development. Has extensive experience with gender analysis of agricultural value chains, and developing women empowerment- and value chain strengthening strategies. In-depth knowledge of gender issues in the clean-cooking sector and frequently involved as gender expert for the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves (GACC).
Worked for the Africa Biogas Partnership Programme and developed their gender-mainstreaming strategy, systems, and capacities. Designed and evaluated several development programmes with a focus on gender equality and the rights of women and girls. Worked for Hivos, an international development NGO, for which she developed and managed the portfolio of women’s rights organisations in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Iraq and Syria.

Outside Avance
After living in Kenya for six years Els moved to Cambodia in 2015. Tries to keep up with her running schedule and loves cooking for her friends.
